Where to park in Nijkerk

In the centre of the town of Nijkerk paid parking applies, on the car parks and in the garages. Anyone doing half an hour of shopping pays a starting rate of € 0.55 there; after that the meter runs on per minute at € 1.10 per hour. If you linger, the maximum day rate is € 10.00. That starting rate makes short shopping cheap, but it also means you always pay something, even if you are only inside for ten minutes.

Nijkerk also has four free car parks a short walk from the city centre. Oostkadijk 1 at the old town hall is a four-minute walk, Stationsweg 4 and Hassemanpad 4 at the station are five minutes, and Watergoorweg 31 is nine minutes. For a longer visit that is the cheapest option in town.

Hours, zones and the villages

Paid parking applies from Monday to Saturday between 9:00 and 21:00. That is a long evening period for a town of this size: anyone going out for dinner in the evening therefore pays too. The hours and the starting rate have applied since 1 July 2026; for the Oosterpoort car park nothing changed that year, the new rules only take effect there on 1 January 2027. At the library and the UWV on the Frieswijkstraat there is a blue zone with a maximum stay of two hours.

In Hoevelaken and Nijkerkerveen you will come across a blue zone in a number of places. In all other places in those villages you simply park for free, without a disc.

Paying per minute

Because Nijkerk charges per minute after the first half hour, it pays to let your session run exactly. With SimplePark you start it as soon as you stop and stop it when you drive off; you pay only the minutes you actually stood there. On the public holidays New Year's Day, both Easter days, King's Day, Ascension Day, both Whit days and both Christmas days, parking in Nijkerk is free.
