Allowing location access

When you open the app where you parked, you want to see the right zone immediately, not type a zone code from a sign. For that, SimplePark uses your phone's location. The app also works without location access, but then you look up the zone yourself on the map or by zone code.

The request comes from inside the app

The app asks for permission the moment you first use the map. You get your phone's usual dialog, with the option to allow access while you are using the app. SimplePark asks for no more than that: there is no background permission, and the app does not follow you once you have closed it.

Turn the request down and the message No access to your location appears at the bottom of the map. Tap it and your phone opens the right settings straight away. If your phone's location services are switched off entirely, you see GPS unavailable instead.

What we do with your location

We use your location only to recognise the parking zone at the moment you use the app. The app does not track you in the background and we do not share your location with third parties. How we handle your data is in our privacy statement.

The app picks the wrong zone, or you grant no access

GPS is less accurate in a narrow street or a car park. Always check that the zone the app suggests matches the zone code on the sign or ticket machine next to your car. If it does not, pick the right zone yourself. How to find it is in Choosing the right zone.

If you would rather not grant location access at all, find the spot with the Search for a parking area field at the top of the map, or drag the map to your car yourself. It takes a couple of extra taps, but parking works exactly the same otherwise.
