Where to park in Terneuzen

Terneuzen has three underground car parks: Oostkolk, Theaterplein and Schuttershof. For a visit to the city centre those are almost always the smartest choice, because the first two hours there are free. If you park above ground anyway, you pay from the first minute. On the edge of the centre it can still be free: on the surface spaces on Binnenvaartweg parking is temporarily free of charge, and at Medisch centrum Epicurus on Dr. Buijzestraat the first hour is free if you take a ticket from the machine.

In the municipality's other towns you park for free. Exceptions are the blue zones in Terneuzen and Axel and Suikerplein in Sas van Gent, where you always have to pay.

Zones, hours and the parking disc

Above ground, paid parking applies from Monday to Saturday between 9.00 and 18.00. A number of spots differ from that: at Westkolkstraat and Westerscheldedijk it runs through until 24.00, and on Stadhuisplein you only pay on weekdays between 16.00 and 18.00 and on Saturday from 9.00 to 18.00. So look at the sign or the meter.

In Terneuzen's blue zone you may stand a maximum of two hours with the parking disc, on weekdays between 9.00 and 16.00. In Axel the same two hours apply, but from Monday to Saturday between 9.00 and 18.00.

Paying and free days

On Sundays and public holidays, including shopping Sundays, surface parking in Terneuzen is free; a few Belgian public holidays are even added. That does not apply to the permit-holder area (zone 45320) and Suikerplein in Sas van Gent. If you stand at a spot where you do pay, the meter works on zone number. With SimplePark you start the session as soon as you stop and you stop it when you drive off; you pay by the minute, which in a municipality with rates per six minutes comes out exactly right.
