Where to park in Goes
Goes has a compact city centre with a paid ring around it and, unusually, two large free sites a ten-minute walk away. If you come for a day's shopping or for the market, Stationspark or Sportpark Het Schenge is the cheapest choice: you pay nothing there and you walk straight into the city centre. If you want to stand closer, Koepoort, Dam and Damplein are the most expensive stretch of street in the town.
Centrum car park sits in the middle of the centre, by the shopping centre and theatre De Mythe, and has 511 spaces spread over seven decks. During the day you pay the hourly rate; if you come in the evening to eat or go to the theatre, you pay one fixed amount for the whole evening and night. On Thursday late-night shopping that is even lower.
Hours that differ per day
The paid hours in Goes are not the same every day. From Monday to Wednesday and on Friday paid parking runs from 9.00 to 18.00, on Thursday through to 21.00 for late-night shopping, and on Saturday it already stops at 17.00. On Sundays and public holidays on-street parking is free, provided you stand neatly in a bay.
There are a few exceptions you can easily miss. On the furniture boulevard a much lower hourly rate applies, but only between 9.00 and 15.00, and from the third hour the rate jumps up. At Couwervestraat, Rommerswalestraat and the UWV site on M.A. de Ruijterlaan their own time slots apply again. So read the sign before you walk away.
Paying and enforcement
At the meter you pay in advance, in the car park afterwards, and on the street you can also pay with an app. With SimplePark you start your session as soon as you stop and you stop it when you drive away, and you settle by the minute, exactly what you want in a town where the end time shifts per day and you would otherwise buy too much to be on the safe side.
