SimplePark is an app for paid street parking, by licence plate. You pick the zone you are in, start your parking action and stop it when you drive off. The whole app fits into three tabs at the bottom of the screen: Map, Activities and Profile. Below we walk through them, so you have nothing to look for during your first session.

Map

This is the screen the app opens on. You see your own location and the parking zones around you. At the top is the search field Search for a parking area, for looking up a place or a zone code from the sign.

Tap a zone and a card slides up from the bottom with the zone's name, the code shown on the street and the vehicle currently selected. Tap that vehicle and the picker Vehicle opens, where you choose another plate. In a zone with a fixed day rate the card carries the badge Day pass. The button Start action takes you to the zone screen.

Parking zone

The zone screen carries the name of the zone, with the on-street code beside it; where a zone has no name it reads Parking zone. It holds two blocks:

  • Parking action: the timer, the selected vehicle and the buttons Set end time and Start. An end time is always part of it; that is not a choice but a condition for starting.
  • Rates: what the municipality charges per part of the day. The arrows Previous day and Next day page through the days. Where the municipality charges in one and the same unit all day, a footnote appears below: "*You pay per 15 minutes".

If your balance is too low, the message Insufficient balance replaces the start block, stating the minimum you need. If your account is not finished yet, it says Finish setting up your account with the button Finish setup.

Activities

The second tab collects your parking actions, running and finished. A running action you stop with Stop or lengthen with Extend; on the map that same button reads Stop action. The app asks Stop activity to confirm first.

Tap a row and Activity opens with Vehicle, Type, Parking time, City, Location and Total cost, service fee included. You also get a parking confirmation by email for every finished session.

Profile

The third tab is your account, in three blocks. Under the heading Settings sit Account (your name, phone number, email and address), Balance (your credit, topping up, direct debit and your transactions), Invoices (holding Payments and Usage), Vehicles, Notifications, Security and Privacy. Under Support sits Help center with our contact details; under Legal sit Terms and conditions and Privacy statement. At the bottom of the screen are Log out and the version number.

Notifications holds four topics: Active parking action, Parking ends soon, Parking ended and Top-up confirmation. Per topic you switch on or off the channels that exist for it, Push notification and Email, and for the first two you also set a time: how often you get a reminder, and how long before the end you hear that your parking time is running out.
