Where to park in Alkmaar
Alkmaar would rather send visitors into a car park than onto the street, and makes that attractive: in a car park you park more cheaply than on the street. There are six municipal car parks in and around the center, all within walking distance of the shops. If you come for the cheese market or the Oude Stad, you are closest in De Karperton on De Dijk, next to the Waagplein. For the theater, the Stedelijk Museum and the library, De Vest under Taqa Theater De Vest is the logical choice, and if you need the hospital you are well placed in De Singel under the Molen van Piet. If you arrive by train or are heading somewhere else, De Kazerne on Helderseweg sits between the station and the city center.
What it costs
In the Kanaalschiereiland car park under the Stadskantoor you pay € 2.21 per hour with a maximum of € 18.80 per day. In the evening and at the weekend it is a lot cheaper: Monday to Friday between 18.00 and 10.00 you pay max. € 3.15, and from Saturday evening 18.00 to Monday morning 10.00 max. € 6.97. The same weekend arrangement applies around New Year and Christmas. The rates of the other car parks and of on-street parking are on the municipality's parking page; check there or on the meter for the amount that applies at your spot.
On-street parking with the app
