Parking in Bergen (NH.)

Paid parking here depends on the season

The municipality of Bergen consists of a village and a handful of seaside resorts, and you see that in the parking rules. In Bergen itself paid parking applies all year, every day from 10.00 to 19.00. In Bergen aan Zee, Egmond aan Zee and Schoorl you pay from March to October every day between 10.00 and 19.00, and from November to February only at the weekend. In Hargen aan Zee the same summer regime applies, but parking from November to February is entirely free.

Those rules also apply on public holidays. A sunny Easter Sunday in October is therefore simply a paid day.

Zones and rates

Besides paid parking there are spots where you park free and zones where you stand with a parking disc. The zones are marked with signs as soon as you drive into them. The rates per zone and the maps with the paid zones are on the website of Parkeer Service Bergen, the organisation that runs paid parking for the municipality.

Two kinds of parking tickets

In Bergen you can get two different tickets, and that determines where you object. The BOAs of the BUCH municipalities check illegal parking, the blue zone and the use of disabled parking spaces; their notice goes under your windscreen wiper and is handled by the CJIB. Parkeer Service Bergen checks paid parking and permit-holder parking and sends its own parking fine.
