Where you pay in Culemborg
To keep the historic city center accessible, paid parking applies in part of the town. The rate is the same everywhere: € 1.60 per hour, with a start rate of € 0.30 at the meter. At four spots you can buy a day ticket of at most € 4.40: Het Voorburg, Jodenkerkstraat (by the municipal office, also known as the Abdij), Lange Meent and Sint Janskerkhof. If you stay longer, that day ticket is the better choice.
Paid parking applies from Monday to Thursday from 9.00 to 18.00, on Friday until 21.00 and on Saturday until 17.00. On Sunday and on public holidays such as King's Day and Ascension Day you do not pay. Between Boxing Day and New Year's Eve the municipality switches off the on-street meters as a precaution against fireworks, so parking there is free then too.
Free parking at the edge
For long-stay parking there are four free sites: Rozenstraat, Palumbus, Dr. Hockesingel and Mariahof. At Voermansgildeplaats car park a blue zone applies, introduced at the request of the shopkeepers: there you may park from Monday to Saturday between 9.00 and 18.00 for a maximum of 1.5 hours with a parking disc. There is also a blue zone at Parijsch shopping center.
Enforcement and paying
The parking officers check whether there is a ticket behind the windscreen or whether your license plate has been registered with a parking app. If nothing or too little has been paid, a parking fine (naheffingsaanslag) from Tobias Fiscaal follows by post; it handles these fines on behalf of the municipality. You can pay with all national parking apps or at the meter.
