At Weeskinderendijk car park the first 24 hours cost € 1.00; deeper into the city center the hourly rate rises to € 4.90, and on and around Prinsenstraat you even pay € 9.80 per hour after the first 40 minutes. The difference between the cheapest and the most expensive street is therefore huge. It pays to look in advance where you will end up.

If you prefer to park under cover, four municipal car parks are available: Spuihaven, Achterom, Energiehuis and Riedijkshaven, all four open day and night. There you pay per minute and only by debit card. If you go to the Albert Schweitzer hospital or Sportboulevard, you park on the site opposite the hospital or in Sportboulevard car park, with its own stepped rate per visit.

Hours, area codes and Sunday

Paid parking applies from Monday to Saturday between 9.00 and 22.00 and on Sunday between 12.00 and 17.00. On Easter Monday, Ascension Day, Whit Monday and Boxing Day the same Sunday hours apply; on New Year's Day, Easter Sunday, Whit Sunday and Christmas Day you park for free. Around the hospital, the police station and Rie Mastenbroekweg you also have to pay on Sunday, from 9.00 to 22.00.

Each area has a 4-digit area code that is on the meter or on a sign. That code determines your rate, so always check that what you enter in your app matches what is on the meter or sign. In the permit-holder area between Prinsenstraat, Voorstraat, Steegoversloot and Spuihaven there is only a day ticket of € 39.20. You pay that even if you park there for 10 minutes.

Enforcement and paying by license plate

On the street in Dordrecht you always pay by license plate, at the meter or via a parking app. Enforcement scans your license plate and so sees whether payment has been made; a wrongly entered plate gets you a fine.
