Where to park in Schiedam

Schiedam divides the regulated area into sectors with a letter, and that letter determines what you pay. In sector A, the heart of the town, the hourly rate is highest; in all other sectors and on Rubensplein and Bijdorpplein you pay almost a euro per hour less. On the municipality's map you see where the sector boundaries lie and where the meters stand.

If you come for the city centre, the car parks are often more attractive than the street: in the ABC car park and in Passage Schiedam the first hour is free, and Stadserf car park sits next to the municipal office. If you continue by metro or train, choose a P+R. P+R Schiedam Centrum is right by the north entrance of the station, P+R Horvathweg is smaller, and at the site by Vijfsluizen metro station your car stands for free.

Time windows per sector

Paid hours differ per sector and are in motion. In sectors A, C, D and E and on Rubensplein and Bijdorpplein you pay on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9.00 to 20.00, on late-night shopping Thursday until 21.00 and on Saturday until 17.00. In Schiedam-Oost (sector B) and Nieuw-Mathenesse (sector F) it runs from Monday to Saturday through until 23.00. A few streets differ: in Louis Raemaekersstraat and Johan Braakensiekstraat paid parking already stops at 14.00.

Entering your licence plate and enforcement

The meters no longer issue a ticket: you enter your licence plate and you are done. An officer scans your car's licence plate, and a scan car also drives around doing the same. If you type a wrong licence plate, you can object, but you do need a payment receipt. With SimplePark you avoid that hassle: you start the session as soon as you stop and you stop it when you drive off, and you pay by the minute for the time you actually stood there.
