Where paid parking applies in Eindhoven
Eindhoven applies paid parking widely: inside the whole ring you pay for any public parking space, and outside it paid parking applies at a number of separate spots, such as at the airport and Woensel shopping center. The municipality does that to limit parking pressure for residents and businesses. Which rate applies exactly differs per neighborhood; that is on the parking meter and in your parking app, and the municipality publishes it per parking area on a map.
In the center itself, less space has deliberately been made for cars. So it is better to park at the edge. If you come from the south, P+R Genneper Parken on Aalsterweg is the logical choice: there you pay € 1.50 per hour or € 4.00 for 24 hours, and with bus 7, 317, 318 or 408 you are in the city in about 10 minutes. At the meter you also buy a bus return for € 0.50 per person, for a maximum of five people. If you come from the direction of Den Bosch or Tilburg, P+R Meerhoven sits directly next to the N2; it is operated by P1 and has its own rate.

What makes Eindhoven different from most cities: paid parking applies from 9.00 to 21.00 on all days of the week, including Sundays and public holidays. Anyone used to Sunday being free is in for a surprise here. That does not apply at the P+Rs: they are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and work with their own day rate, and you may park there for up to 28 days in a row.
Enforcement with the scan car
A scan car drives through the streets and reads license plates; that is how it is checked whether payment has been made for your car. At the parking meter you can only pay with a debit card or credit card and you enter your license plate on the screen. You no longer get a ticket behind the windscreen.
