Where to park in Heerlen

Heerlen is convenient if you come by car: little congestion, direct connections and train stations close to the shopping areas. According to the municipality there is enough parking. The difficulty is not the space, but the layout of the city center. The center is largely a pedestrian area, and around it are areas where residents and businesses need a parking permit.

In practice that means: you park on the edge of the pedestrian area and walk the last stretch. When you get out, look carefully at the signs at the bay where you have parked, because in the permit-holder areas an ordinary parking space is not always meant for everyone. What you actually pay depends on the location and is shown on the meter.

Into the pedestrian area

If you want to drive into the car-free part of the center, for example to load or unload, that is only allowed after 12.00 with an exemption from the municipality. If you are a visitor, that is not an option: look for a parking space outside the area. Paying with your phone

The municipality of Heerlen does not put the rates on its own parking pages.
