Parking in Schouwen-Duiveland: rates, zones and hours

Where to park on Schouwen-Duiveland

Schouwen-Duiveland is an island of beaches and a historic town, and you see that in the parking. The paid sites sit where it is busy: in Zierikzee, in Renesse, in Burgh-Haamstede and at the beaches. Beyond that there are also sites where you can park free and without a time limit. On the municipality's overview map you see which site has which arrangement.

If you come for the beach at Renesse, the Transferium is the smartest move. There are 900 free spaces, and from the site free buses take you to the campsites and the beaches, so you do not have to hunt the last kilometres to the dunes by car. In Zierikzee the large sites sit on the edge of the city centre, within walking distance of the harbour and the Havenpoort.

Pay every day, except in Zierikzee

Unlike in many municipalities, paid parking here applies all week, from Monday through Sunday. Only in Zierikzee you do not have to pay on Sunday. The hourly rate differs per site: the lowest rate applies at the quieter spots, the highest at the busiest. So look at the meter for the amount that applies at your space instead of assuming last time's figure.

If you have a disabled parking badge, you may park for free on the paid spaces; a permit is not needed for that. On a permit-holder space you may stand with that badge and a parking disc for a maximum of three hours.

Paying by licence plate

The meters no longer print a ticket. You enter your licence plate at the meter or in your app, and enforcement checks whether that licence plate has paid.
