Where to park in Sluis municipality

Sluis municipality runs from the villages inland to the seaside resorts on the North Sea, and the parking policy follows that split. Along the coast you may only park on the designated spaces, and those are paid in the season. These are sizeable sites: Parking Walendijk and Parking Slikkenburg at Breskens, Kanaalweg, Vlamingpolder and Van Grol at Cadzand-Bad, Tankval, Groese Duintje and Puijendijk at Groede, Radartoren, 't Gemaal, the Parkeeronthaalkamer and Matour at Nieuwvliet, and Zwinparking Noordijk and Duinweg at Retranchement.

In the shopping cores it works differently. Oostburg and Breskens have a blue zone where you park free with a parking disc, and in the cores Sluis and Cadzand-Bad parking is arranged with permits on licence plate.

The season and the disc

On the coast paid parking applies from 15 March through 15 November, daily between 11.00 and 18.00. Outside that window and outside that period it costs nothing. Only the centre of Cadzand-Bad falls outside that: there you pay all year, in that same time slot from 11.00 to 18.00.

In the blue zone of Oostburg you may stand a maximum of two hours from Monday to Saturday between 9.00 and 16.00. Breskens uses the same two hours, but every day of the week between 9.00 and 18.00. Two spots differ: at the Plus supermarket car park you may stand one and a half hours and on Panoramaweg only one hour.

Paying and enforcement

At a parking meter you first enter your car's licence plate and then pay with cash or debit card, including contactless. Note: with a cash payment the meter does not give change. An enforcement officer then scans the licence plate of parked cars and so sees whether it has been paid.
