Parking in Texel: rates, zones and hours

On-street parking in Texel costs €5.00 per hour. Paid parking applies Mon–Sun 8:00–20:00. SimplePark knows all 20 parking zones of Texel: start your session in the app, stop it when you leave and pay only for the time you parked. In Albert Heijn car park, Den Burg you can stay 60 minutes with a parking disc. The municipality checks with a scan car, so your number plate has to be right. The rates come from the municipality and were checked on September 7, 2026. With SimplePark you start and stop the parking session in the app and pay by the minute, plus €0.29 in service costs per parking action.

Parking on Texel works with a vignette

On Texel almost all paid parking is arranged through one pass: the Texel vignette. That is not a sticker but a digital parking right on your licence plate, and it applies on all spots with paid parking: at the beach access points and in all villages. You choose a day, week or year ticket, matched to how long you stay. If you only come briefly, you do not need to buy anything: at the meter or in a parking app you pay per hour.

Work out in advance what is smarter. If you spend an afternoon at the beach, paying per hour is fine; if you stay a week on the island, a week or year ticket is the calmer choice. Do note that the vignette is tied to one licence plate and cannot be transferred to another car. Anyone coming with a hire car or a new car therefore buys a new vignette.

Blue zones in Den Burg and De Koog

At the busiest spots in Den Burg and De Koog paid parking does not apply but a blue zone does. There you park for free, but only briefly and only with a parking disc set to your arrival time. The maximum time differs per spot: at Parkstraat and the first four spaces on Burgwal that is half an hour, at the supermarket sites one or two hours. The zones apply every day between 8.00 and 20.00 and are marked with signs and blue stripes.

Paying and enforcement

At the meters you can only pay by debit card or credit card: cash does not work. And not everywhere on the island is there a meter. Paying with your phone is therefore often easier: across Texel zone code 29511 applies. With SimplePark you start the session as soon as you stop and you stop it when you drive off, so you only pay the minutes you were actually there. Enforcement officers drive past and scan licence plates; if you have no valid parking right, an additional assessment follows. With a European disabled parking badge you do not have to pay on Texel in 2026.
