Three kinds of spaces in the centre
If you go to Zeist centre by car, you choose from three kinds of parking spaces, and those differ a lot in price. Right in front of the shops, in streets such as Slotlaan, Steynlaan, Het Rond and 1e and 2e Hogeweg, you pay the most: € 4.00 per hour. That rate is meant for a short errand. On the outdoor car parks an hour costs € 2.60, with a maximum of € 10.00 per day.
Cheapest are the Steynlaan, 1e Hogeweg, Emmaplein and Gemeentehuis car parks: € 2.50 per hour and never more than € 6.00 per day. If you stay longer than two hours, the car park is always cheaper than the street. There are also permit-holder areas around the centre; as a visitor you may stand there with a day ticket of € 20.00, on sale at the meter.
When you have to pay
Paid parking applies from Monday to Thursday and on Saturday between 9.00 and 19.00, and on Friday through to 21.00. Around the station, rayon S, paid parking already ends on weekdays and Saturday at 18.00; there too Friday runs through to 21.00. On Sunday and on official public holidays you park free on-street, but note: in the four barrier car parks that exemption does not apply.
Paying by licence plate
At the meter you settle with your debit card or credit card, and you enter your licence plate. A ticket behind the windscreen is no longer needed. Easier is mobile parking: with SimplePark you start the session as soon as you stop and you stop it when you drive away, and you pay by the minute. Do watch the right zone: the shopping streets, the outdoor car parks and the permit-holder areas each have their own zone number, and those rates differ widely.
