Where to park in Deventer

In Deventer the sum is simple: in the centre a car park is cheaper than on the street. The municipality has three: Brink on Emmastraat, Stadspoort on Binnensingel and Stationsplein by the station. All three are open 24 hours a day and seven days a week. You pay € 1 per 27 minutes there, equivalent to € 2.24 per hour, and never more than € 10 on a day. Between 19.00 and 22.00 it drops to € 1 per hour and between 22.00 and 7.00 to € 0.50. On Sunday the day rate only applies between 12.00 and 17.30; before and after that it is € 0.50 per hour.

Besides the municipal car parks there are still Centrumgarage on Op de Keizer, De Boreel on Boreelplein and Beestenmarkt. Those are not municipal; opening hours and rates are on the VVV Deventer site.

On the street and on the map

On the street, zones apply with their own hours and rates. Deventer does not publish those as a list but on a map, on which the zones are marked with colours; if you click a patch, you see the parking hours, the rate and whether you may stand there with a permit. The permit zones, the parking meters and the charging points are on it too. Note that in some spots you can only pay by the day. Public holidays bring no discount: if a public holiday falls on a Monday, the hours and rates of an ordinary Monday apply.

Paying and the scan car

At the meter you enter your licence plate and pay contactless with your debit card or phone; you do not get a ticket. Cash is only possible in the Brink, Stadspoort and Stationsplein car parks. A scan car drives past and reads licence plates; if it sees that payment may not have been made, the enforcement officers get a notification.
