The closer to the shops, the more expensive
Zutphen divides the city center by parking time, and that time determines the price. Right by the shops you may park for at most 2 hours and pay € 3.10 per hour: Groenmarkt, Nieuwstad, Zaadmarkt, Spittaalstraat, Stationsplein. A ring around that, with among others 's Gravenhof, IJsselkade, Noorderhaven and Rozengracht, is meant for medium stay: at most 4 hours, € 2.50 per hour.
If you want to stay a full day, you go to a long-stay spot. Those differ quite a bit in price. Houtwal behind the police station is cheapest: € 1.05 per hour or € 3.20 for a day. On Isendoornstraat, Molengracht west, Roodsplein and Houtwal at Vispoortplein you pay € 1.95 per hour with a day ticket of € 11.55; at IJsselpaviljoen that is € 2.50 per hour with the same day ticket. The P+R car park behind the station is not municipal: Q-Park sets the rates there.
Hours and the blue zone
You pay parking charges from Monday to Saturday between 8.00 and 18.00, and on Friday evening that runs until 21.00 because of late-night shopping. On Sunday and on public holidays parking on municipal spots is free.
Around the city center there is a blue zone, recognizable by the blue stripe along the street. There you put a parking disc in the car. How long you may park differs per spot, and in some spots the zone only applies on certain days and times. That is all on the traffic sign, so check it before you go into town.
Paying at the meter or by phone
At the payment meter you pay in advance, with your debit card or credit card. If you do not know exactly how long you will stay, pay-by-phone is more pleasant.
