Four rate zones, from the canals outwards
Zwolle charges by distance to the historic city center, in four rate zones. Zone 1 lies inside the canals and is clearly the most expensive: on-street you pay € 4 there for the first hour and € 8 per hour from the second. Zone 2, the center ring around the canals, costs € 2 per hour for the first 2 hours and then € 4. In zone 3, the railway zone, the same amounts apply; in zone 4, the neighborhoods around it, you pay € 1.50 per hour.
It therefore almost always pays to drive on to a car park or site. Inside the canals that is Noordereiland car park at € 3 per hour and € 15 per calendar day, but just outside the canals you pay € 1.50 per hour and € 7.50 for a full day: Diezerpoort, Emmawijk, Katwolderplein, Lübeckplein, Pas de Deux and the sites at Turfmarkt and Schuttevaerkade. From there you walk into the city center in a few minutes. All car parks and sites are open 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, and in almost all cases you can buy a day ticket there.
Paid hours per zone
The hours differ per zone. Inside the canals you pay from Monday to Saturday between 9.00 and 23.00 and on Sunday between 13.00 and 17.00. In zones 2 and 4 paid parking runs until 20.00, with the same Sunday afternoon. In the railway zone only Monday to Saturday from 9.00 to 20.00 applies. On a number of public holidays parking is free: New Year's Day, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday, Ascension Day, Whit Sunday and Whit Monday, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. If you shop in the evening you can park free on the provincial site on Luttenbergstraat.
Paying by license plate
