Where to park in Doetinchem

Doetinchem works with a rate ladder: the closer you stand to the centre, the more you pay. The hourly rate runs from € 1.30 at the outer edge to € 2.50 at the spots closest to the shops. What applies at your spot, you read off the parking meter.

If you stay longer than a few hours, a day ticket is almost always cheaper. At most meters it costs six times the hourly rate, but around the centre a number of spaces have a logo above the meter: there you pay a fixed € 4.00 for the whole day, even if the hourly rate is high. You can buy such a ticket from 9.00 in the morning and it runs through to 21.00. Anyone who wants to pay nothing at all puts the car on Stationsstraat by the railway station and walks to the centre in ten minutes.

Paid hours and Sunday

Paid parking applies from Monday to Saturday between 9.00 and 21.00, a long evening then, into hospitality hours. On Sunday you park free on many municipal spaces. On national public holidays you do not: then the ordinary paid hours simply apply, except if the public holiday happens to fall on a Sunday.

Two spots fall outside that arrangement. The car parks have their own hours, and the permit-holder spaces on Kapoeniestraat/Grutpoort ask 24 hours a day, seven days a week for a day ticket of € 25.00. You buy that in advance online, not at a meter.

Car parks and paying with your phone

The municipality has Amphiongarage and Catharinagarage; Hofgarage belongs to another owner. You drive in, get a ticket and pay afterwards at the meter. You can always exit, entry only during opening hours. In Amphiongarage you can also buy the day ticket of € 4.00.

On the street you pay by licence plate. You pass on the zone number from the meter via your parking app and checks happen digitally.
