Where to park in Emmen
Emmen has its centre and Wildlands animal park lying right next to each other, and you see that in the parking sites. Around Willinkplein stand the car park and the Willinkplein Zuid site, on Westerstraat lies a second car park, and on the north and south sides of Wildlands lie the P Noord Wildlands-Centrum and Wildlands – Centrum Zuid sites. At all those spots the same rate applies: € 1.80 per 53 minutes, with a day rate of € 10.60. If you spend a whole day in the animal park, you therefore know in advance exactly where you stand.
If you prefer to park on the street, you pay € 2.00 per 51 minutes, a little more expensive then than under cover. On top of that a maximum parking time applies on the street per location; that is on the parking meter. Anyone who wants to pay nothing at all drives on to P Oost car park on Van Schaikweg, on the east side of the centre.
Paid hours and Thursday evening
The paid hours run from 9.00 to 20.00 on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. On Thursday, late-night shopping, it runs through to 21.00. Sunday is the point where the rates split: at the car parks and sites on Willinkplein and Westerstraat the payment obligation on Sunday simply starts at 9.00, while on the street and at the Wildlands sites you only have to pay from 13.00.
The opening hours differ too. You can enter Willinkplein car park between 8.00 and 20.30, on Thursday until 22.00; Westerstraat until 22.00. You can always exit. The parking sites are open day and night.
Paying with your phone
At the meters you pay cash or with a debit card, but easier is phone parking.
