Where to park in Hardenberg
Hardenberg keeps it clear: throughout the center the same hourly rate applies, whether you park on the street or behind a barrier. Digital signs on the approach roads point you to the nearest site and show how many spaces are free. The four large places are the Centrum/Gemeentehuis and Centrum/LOC car parks, the Van Wevelinckhovenplein parking deck and the Centrum/Theater site on Gedempte Haven.
The smartest choice for a short visit is the car park at the town hall: the first 3 consecutive hours are free there, and only then does the meter start running. On Saturday the same scheme applies in the car park at the LOC. If you stay longer, the day ticket caps what you pay. If you want to pay nothing at all, leave the car at the fire station on Europaweg and walk to the center in a quarter of an hour.
Blue zones, Stop&Shop and permits
Around the paid center sit permit zones B to E, where you may not park as a visitor. There are also blue zones: in the Heemsermars district, on parts of Europaweg and Bruchterweg, and in Dedemsvaart center. There you park for 2 hours for free with a parking disc, in Hardenberg on Thursday until 21.00 and in Dedemsvaart on Friday until 21.00.
At the shops on Europaweg and on Bruchterweg there are also two Stop&Shop zones, where you may park for at most half an hour, also with the disc. Outside paid hours, on Sunday and on public holidays you park for free in the center. Do note that a disabled parking badge does not exempt you from paying in Hardenberg.
Paying and enforcement
Behind the barrier you pay afterwards at the meter, by debit card, cash or via an app. On the street you enter your license plate in advance at the meter; cash is not possible there. The gates of the Centrum/Gemeentehuis and Centrum/LOC car parks and the upper deck of Van Wevelinckhovenplein close at night, but you can always exit.
