Where to park in Enschede

As a visitor to Enschede city centre you pay everywhere. So the question is mainly where you are best off. On the parking sites the rate depends on the zone: in zone 1 and 1B, the heart of the city, an hour costs € 3.85, in zones 2 to 8 around it € 3.45. The maximum day rate is in both cases five times the hourly rate, so a long day in the city centre adds up.

Standing under cover is often cheaper. In the six car parks you pay between 7.00 and 19.00 € 3.35 per hour, charged in blocks of € 0.50. For a whole day there is a ceiling: € 16.75 at Brouwerij, Stationsplein, Irene and H.J. van Heekgarage, and € 8.50 at Mooienhof and Hermandad. In Brouwerij car park in Roombeek the first two hours are free besides. Do watch the clearances: they run from 1.95 to 2.10 metres.

Evenings, Sundays and public holidays

After 19.00 it becomes attractive: the hourly rate in the car parks then drops until 7.00 in the morning to € 1.00 per hour, with a maximum of five hours, so € 5.00 for the whole evening and night. On the street the hours differ per zone. Zone 1 and 1B stay paid until 23.00, the other zones until 19.00. On Sunday the payment obligation everywhere only starts at 13.00.

On New Year's Day, Easter Sunday, Whit Sunday and Christmas Day on-street parking is free everywhere. On the other public holidays the shopping-Sunday hours of the zone in question apply.

Travelling on or paying with your phone

Anyone who would rather leave the car at the edge drives to P+R Zuiderval. There parking costs € 3.00 per day and on showing your ticket five people travel on free by bus to the city centre. You can also pay with a debit card, credit card, coins from € 0.10 and, only in the car parks, with banknotes. Easiest is your phone: with SimplePark you start your session as soon as you stop and stop it when you drive away, so you only pay the time you actually stood there.
