Parking per area

Rijswijk divides the town into parking areas, and per area it is set whether you pay, whether you may only park with a permit, and which rate applies. There are well over twenty of them, spread across the whole municipality: besides the numbered zones 1 and 2 those include Oud Rijswijk and surroundings, the Havenkwartier, Herenstraat, Kesslerpark, Park de Werve, Blotinghe, Mallegat, Eisenhowerplein, Ravesteijnplein, Colijnlaan, Offwegenlaan, Cor Ruysstraat, Don Bosco, the Te Werve shopping strip, the area around the Schouwburg and the Huis van de Stad, and the Plaspoelpolder business park.

The municipality publishes a map per area. On it you see exactly which streets belong to it, where the parking meters are and what parking costs there. What the municipality explicitly adds: not every address on a named street automatically belongs to a permit area: new-build with its own parking is sometimes excluded.

What you need to know as a visitor

Because the rates and the paid hours differ per area, there is no single town-wide amount to name for Rijswijk. Always look at the sign at your space or at the parking map of the area where you are. That difference is not a detail in Rijswijk: a shopping area such as Oud Rijswijk is arranged differently from an office area such as the Plaspoelpolder.

Paying without going to the meter
