2 hours in Venlo, 3 in Blerick and Tegelen
Venlo arranges parking around its centers mainly with blue zones, and those differ per town. In Venlo itself you may park in the zone around the center for a maximum of 2 hours, and that applies every day of the week between 8:00 and 19:00, so also on Sunday. In Blerick and Tegelen the zone is more generous: there you stay a maximum of 3 hours, from Monday to Saturday between 8:00 and 18:00. Blerick has late-night shopping on Friday and Tegelen on Thursday; on those evenings the scheme runs through to 21:00.
You park in such a zone only along the blue curbs, with the disc set to your arrival time behind the windscreen. Motorcyclists do not have to set a disc, but must still park on a marked space or along the blue line. If you have a disabled parking card, the disc is not needed.
Staying longer: the car parks
If you need more than those two or 3 hours, you use a car park. In and around Venlo city center there are six: Nolensplein with 760 spaces is the largest, followed by Maasboulevard, Roermondsepoort and Maaswaard on Prinsessesingel, plus Arsenaal on Nassaustraat and Blok van Gendt on Valuasstraat. At the station there is the P+R on Stationsplein with the entrance and exit on Kaldenkerkerweg.
All seven are managed by Q-Park, which also issues the season tickets; the rates and opening hours are on the Q-Park site. Arsenaal, Blok van Gendt, Maaswaard and the P+R are open for entry and exit day and night.
Paying and watching the clock
In the blue zones you pay nothing, but the time does run: a disc that is wrong or a car that is parked there too long gets you a fine. If you park on a spot where you do have to pay, you do not have to walk to the meter. How long may I stay in Venlo's blue zone?
In Venlo a maximum of 2 hours, every day of the week between 8:00 and 19:00. In Blerick and Tegelen that is 3 hours, from Monday to Saturday between 8:00 and 18:00, with late-night shopping until 21:00. Late-night shopping is on Friday in Blerick and on Thursday in Tegelen.
Do I always need a parking disc in a blue zone in Venlo?
As a visitor yes, and you then park only along the blue curbs. Motorcycles do not have to set a disc but must still park on marked spaces or along the blue line. With a disabled parking card you do not need a disc.
Where do I park if I want to stay longer in Venlo city center?
In one of the car parks in and around the center: Nolensplein, Maasboulevard, Roermondsepoort, Maaswaard, Arsenaal and Blok van Gendt. At the station there is the P+R on Stationsplein. They are all managed by Q-Park, which also handles the season tickets.
