Where to park in Wageningen
Wageningen splits parking into four areas, and the difference between those areas is large. On the small spots in the middle of town short stay is the point: Raadhuisplein, Vijzelstraat and Salverdaplein, together area A. The first hour costs € 2.00 there, but then the rate shoots up to € 6.00 per hour. If you stand there for an afternoon, the bill mounts quickly.
The rest of the city centre is area B: € 2.00 per hour, with a daily maximum of € 20.00. If you stay longer, you are better off driving straight on to the central car parks outside the city centre: De Arc (P8), Costerweg (P9), Stadsbrink (P12) and Olympiaplein (P13). There the first hour is free, then you pay € 1.60 per hour and a full day costs at most € 8.00. There is also almost always space and you walk to the centre in about 5 to 10 minutes. On Troelstraweg, area D, the same hourly rate applies but a higher daily maximum.
Until when you pay
For all areas except Raadhuisplein, Vijzelstraat and Salverdaplein the rule is: from Monday to Thursday you pay between 9.00 and 18.00, on Friday until 21.00 and on Saturday until 17.00. On those three short-stay spots paid parking actually runs longer: from Monday to Friday from 9.00 to 23.00.
On Raadhuisplein the market comes on top of that. A parking ban applies from Tuesday 23.00 to Wednesday 16.00 and from Friday 23.00 to Saturday 19.00. So do not leave your car there in those hours.
Paying without guessing
Because the rate in the city centre rises by the hour and on the car parks the first hour is free, it helps to pay exactly for what you use. With SimplePark you start the session as soon as you stop and you stop it when you drive away; you pay by the minute and do not have to decide in advance how long you will stay in town.
