If you want to stop using SimplePark, you request deletion yourself in the app. It does not happen at once: if there are no outstanding payments, your account is permanently deleted after 30 days. Sign in again within those thirty days and the deletion is cancelled automatically. So you get a month to change your mind.
How to delete your account
- Open the app and go to Profile › Security.
- Tap Delete account.
- Fill in Reason for leaving to say why you are going. That field is not required.
- Tap Send. No password is asked for.
The same screen already states the period: "If there are no outstanding payments, your account will be permanently deleted after 30 days." At the bottom there is also a warning about your balance, which changes with the amount still on it. After sending you see "Your account is being deleted" with the text "In 30 days we will permanently delete your data. You can stop this process at any time by logging in again." You can keep parking during that period.
What blocks the deletion
Three things block the request. You get a message stating the reason:
- Open invoices. "You have unpaid invoices. Pay them before you can delete your account." See Paying an outstanding amount.
- Negative balance. "Your balance is negative. Resolve this before you can delete your account."
- Positive balance. "You still have credit in your wallet. Use it up or contact support to have it paid out before you can delete your account."
Note the difference: the deletion screen itself warns that remaining credit is irreversibly forfeited. Do not count on that: park your credit off or ask support for a payout before you send the request. There is no self-service payout in the app.
What to settle first
Stop running parking sessions, pay open invoices, use up your credit and request the invoices you want to keep. They are all in Things to settle before deletion.
Not possible in the app?
If you cannot sign in, email [email protected] from your account's email address asking us to delete your account. We check that the request is yours and handle it. More on this is on the Delete your account page.
What happens to your data
We delete your personal details, vehicle data and location data. Invoices and the underlying transactions are kept for seven years under the statutory record-keeping obligation, as set out in the privacy statement; after deletion they are no longer linked to an active account. See What happens to your data.
Just pausing?
You do not have to delete your account if you will not park for a while. An unused account costs nothing: there is no subscription. Your credit stays. And if you only remove the app from your phone, your account simply continues to exist; that is not the same as closing it.
