An outstanding amount is money you owe SimplePark that has not been paid yet. It does not stay on your account as a negative balance: we put it on an invoice, after which your credit is back at € 0.00. As long as that invoice is open, you cannot start a new parking session. You pay it in the app or through the button in the email you get about it.
Where you see the outstanding amount
A red alert about your open invoice appears on the map: "This invoice still needs to be paid." That alert is the button: tap it and the app opens the invoice. In your profile there is also a red Payment badge next to the Invoices menu item. Open the invoice and it shows Outstanding payment at the top, with the button Pay now.
How to pay
- Open the app and tap the alert on the map, or go to Profile › Invoices › Payments.
- Open the invoice carrying the Payment badge.
- Tap Pay now and complete the payment with your bank.
- Back in the app the invoice is paid and you can start a parking session again.
Prefer to work from your inbox: every email about an outstanding amount carries the button Pay outstanding amount. It takes you to the same payment.
How an outstanding amount arises
- Negative credit. Your session cost more than your balance held. You then get an email that your balance is negative and that action is required: the amount goes onto an invoice and your credit is back at € 0.00.
- The direct debit failed. The direct debit could not be executed; you get an email that the direct debit failed, with a button to pay after all. We make no second attempt; you pay yourself.
- Reversed payment. You had a collected amount returned; you get an email that your payment has been reversed and that you must pay manually. See Direct debit reversed.
- No valid mandate. If direct debit is on without a working mandate, an email follows that your direct debit mandate is missing and that action is required.
The invoice that settles a negative balance has two lines: the amount itself and € 0.29 in transaction costs.
What happens if you do not pay
As long as the invoice is open, your vehicles are blocked and you cannot park. Day 14 brings a formal notice of default with a second payment period, day 21 a second and final formal reminder, and day 30 a handover to a collection agency. From that point collection costs are added under the statutory scale, a minimum of € 40, plus statutory interest. With non-payment of more than 60 days after the last reminder, we may place your account and plate on our internal incident list; that last part comes from the privacy statement. See Account blocked by an outstanding amount.
Amount not right?
Open the invoice and look under Specifications at the lines it contains; the individual sessions are under Activities. If you cannot work it out, email [email protected] with the invoice reference. Disputing an outstanding amount does not postpone payment: pay it, and we correct it if there turns out to be an error.
