Linking a bank account

Linking means giving a SEPA mandate through the Link payment method wizard. You confirm with a one-cent verification payment through iDEAL.

Updated September 8, 2026

You link a bank account with the Link payment method wizard. That gives SimplePark a SEPA mandate: permission to send recurring direct debits to your bank through payment provider Mollie. You only need it for direct debit. Topping up with iDEAL works without a linked account; there you pick your bank at every payment.

  1. Go to Profile › Balance › Direct debit.
  2. Tap Linked accounts.
  3. Tap the + in the top right.
  4. Read the explanation and tap Next.
  5. Tick I authorize recurring direct debits and tap Next.
  6. Complete the € 0.01 verification payment with iDEAL, from the account you want to link.

If your account has no address yet, an Add address step sits between steps 4 and 5: "We need your address details for correct billing." When linking succeeds you see Account linked: "Your bank account has been linked successfully. From now on, your payments will be debited automatically." The account then appears under Linked accounts as a SEPA Direct Debit card.

What the € 0.01 verification payment does

That single cent confirms with your bank that the account is yours and records the mandate. We charge no transaction costs on it: exactly one cent leaves your account. If you later disagree with a collection, you can request a refund from your own bank within eight weeks of the debit; the wizard says so too.

When linking fails or is not possible

  • Linking failed: verification did not succeed and nothing was debited. Try again.
  • Account not supported: "We currently do not support accounts from your bank for our direct debits." Link an account at a different bank.
  • "Add your address before you can turn on direct debit." Fill in your address first under Profile › Account.

If direct debit is not available for your account yet, the Direct debit screen shows Not yet available and there is no +. You then top up with Top up. See Setting up direct debit.

More than one account

You can hold at most three mandates on your account. On a fourth, the app says you have reached the maximum number of billing mandates. One of your linked accounts is the Default account; that is the one we collect from, and its card in the list carries the badge Default. To switch accounts later, see Changing or removing a linked account.
