To have SimplePark collect from a different account, link the new account first and only then unlink the old one. The other way round does not work: you cannot remove the only mandate on your account, whether direct debit is on or off. Your balance is untouched either way: it belongs to your account, not to your bank account.
How to switch accounts
- Go to Profile › Balance › Direct debit › Linked accounts.
- Link the new account with the + and the Link payment method wizard.
- Open the new account in the list and switch on Default account.
- Open the old account and tap the bin icon in the top right.
- Confirm Delete mandate: "Are you sure you want to disconnect this bank account?"
An account's detail screen has three rows: Name, Account number and the Default account switch ("Use this account automatically for the next payment"). Only that default account is used for the collection. If an account cannot be removed, the bin icon is simply not there.
What is and is not possible
| What you want | Possible? |
|---|---|
| Editing an account number | No, link a new account |
| Linking more than three accounts | No, three mandates at most |
| Unlinking your only linked account | No, link another one first |
What happens to a collection already under way
A direct debit already on its way is taken from the account it was announced for. The announcement email says which account that is. Unlinking halfway therefore does not stop that debit. As long as your balance is negative there is something to collect; without a valid mandate you get an email that your direct debit mandate is missing and that action is required; you then pay the amount manually through the button in that email or in the app.
If you have blocked SimplePark's direct debits at your own bank, the next collection fails even though the account still shows in the app. Lift the block or link a different account. See Direct debit reversed.
An account in someone else's name
That is allowed; the account holder does not have to match the name on your account. Name on the detail screen then shows the account holder's name. Do make sure that person agrees to the direct debit, because a reversal by the account holder lands on your account. How to link an account is in Linking a bank account.
