You can park any car with SimplePark, not only your own. Driving a hire car, a shared car or a friend's car, or want to pay for the visitor parked outside your door? Add the vehicle to your account and pick it when starting. Enforcement does not care who pays, as long as the car's plate is registered.
How to park for another vehicle
- Tap the zone on the map and tap Start action, so the zone screen opens.
- In the Parking action block, tap the strip showing the vehicle currently selected.
- Pick the right plate from the Vehicle list: "Select the vehicle you want to start a parking action with."
- Use the code in the top right to check this is the zone where that car is parked, and tap Set end time.
- Choose the end time, tap Next and then Start.
The session is now on that plate. You stop it as usual, in the app.
Vehicle not in the list yet?
You add vehicles under Profile › Vehicles. Tap the + there and walk through the Add vehicle wizard: first the plate, then a check of make, model and year. You give the vehicle a recognisable Name such as "Hire car" or "Sanne's car" afterwards, on the vehicle itself. After that it appears in the Vehicle list when starting. If you have no vehicle at all, the app says: "First add a vehicle to park. You can do this via your profile or during onboarding."
Keeping or removing vehicles
Every vehicle you add stays in your list until you remove it. Handy for your partner's car or a regular lease car. A one-off hire car you take out afterwards, so your list stays tidy and you do not accidentally pick the wrong plate. See Managing licence plates.
Who pays?
The cost always comes from the credit of the account in which the session was started. If you park for someone else, you pay: the parking rate plus a € 0.29 service fee. If you want the other person to pay, it is simpler for them to create their own account.
Several cars at once
You can run sessions for several plates at the same time, for instance your own car and your visitor's. At most one runs per vehicle; try to start a second and the app refuses with "This vehicle has an active parking activity." See Several parking sessions at once.
Responsibility
Your account is personal. Sessions you start for another vehicle fall under your account and your responsibility. If you stop too late or pick the wrong zone, the registered keeper receives the fine, and we cannot reverse it.
