If starting fails, the app usually says why. Find the message you have on screen below; the wording is quoted literally. If you see no message but also no zone, start at the last heading.
Insufficient balance
Your balance does not cover the first period in this zone. Instead of the start button you get Insufficient balance: "You need at least … for the first … minutes in this zone." In a day-pass zone it is a whole day, and the block carries the button Top up balance; add credit and return to the same screen. In other zones the button reads Set end time: pick a shorter parking time your balance does cover, or top up first under Profile › Balance. If the payment fails, see Payment failed.
Finish setting up your account
If your onboarding is not finished, you read Finish setting up your account with the text "You need to complete onboarding before you can park here." and the button Finish setup. On the map the same block appears as Complete your account settings with the text "Complete your profile to start parking." and the button Continue. Onboarding has four steps: your name, your email address, your phone number and a vehicle.
This parking location is not supported
Two variants, both about the zone itself:
- "This parking location is currently not supported on our platform. We are working on this." You cannot pay here with the app (yet); use the ticket machine.
- "This parking location does not support prepaid payments. Enable recurring usage to park here." This zone only allows paying afterwards. See Setting up direct debit.
A session is already running on this vehicle
Only one session can run per vehicle at a time. Try to start a second and the app refuses with "This vehicle has an active parking activity." If you want to park in another zone, stop the running session first. For a different vehicle you can simply start a second session. If the same plate is registered by someone else, you get Parking already active: "A parking activity is already running for this vehicle." Start a great many in a row and the app reports "Your account has reached the parking activity limit"; that boundary is eight new sessions per hour.
Your vehicles are blocked
If an unpaid invoice sits on your account, after a failed or reversed direct debit for instance, your vehicles get blocked, not your account. You then read "This vehicle is blocked." and a banner about the outstanding invoice sits at the top. Invoices shows Outstanding payment with the button Pay now; the block lifts once the amount comes in. See Account blocked by an outstanding amount.
There is also a block on the account itself, with the message Account blocked: "Your account is blocked. As a result, you are unable to start any parking actions." We set that by hand, for reasons other than an unpaid invoice.
The app finds no zone
Without location access, or with approximate instead of precise location, the app cannot show the zones around you; you then read No access to your location or GPS unavailable. Grant permission as described in Allowing location access, or type the code from the sign into Search for a parking area. The app also needs internet to register your plate; without a connection you read No connection and a session cannot start.
Still not working?
Close the app completely and open it again, or install the latest version from the App Store or Google Play. If the problem persists, send a screenshot of the message to [email protected] with your plate and the zone code. If you need help right now while parking, call +31 85 2033 299.
