Your email address is where you receive your invoices, your parking confirmations and messages about your account. If you switch addresses, for example because you used a work address, change it in the app. You confirm the new address with a 6-digit code we send to it; you do not need your old address for that.
How to change your email address
- Open the app and tap Profile at the bottom.
- In the settings list, tap Account.
- In the personal details list, tap Email.
- Enter your new address at Email address and tap Confirm.
- Enter the code from the email at Verification code and tap Confirm.
The app explains the flow as it goes: "We use your email address for communication and billing" and "After entering a new email address, you will immediately receive a verification code to confirm the change." Only once the code matches is the new address in your account.
What changes, and what does not
Your email address is not a login credential: you log in with your phone number and your password, or through Google or Apple. So a new address changes nothing about how you get into the app. What does move along:
- the invoices you request under Invoices, and the receipt for each parking action;
- the confirmations and warnings we send by email;
- the name and address on your invoice stay as they are: you change those separately. See Changing your name and address.
The code does not arrive
You receive an email with your verification code for SimplePark; the code sits under the heading Verification code. There is no button and no link in it; you type the six digits into the app. The code is valid for fifteen minutes and works only once.
- Look in your spam or promotions folder, and check the address for typos. A wrong address gives no error message, but no email either.
- If you request a code again too quickly, the app says Code already sent: "A code has already been sent; use the previous code."
- If the code does not match, you see Invalid code. Always use the latest email; an older code has expired.
Which address you can and cannot use
We do not accept a throwaway address from a temporary mail service; the app sends no code there. Beyond that your email address is not unique: the same address may be linked to more than one account, for instance if there are two accounts in your household. What may only occur once is your phone number: that is what you log in with, and what identifies your account.
If you get mail about parking actions you do not recognise, there is probably a second account on the same address. Email [email protected] with the phone number you log in with yourself.
