Your phone number is more than a contact detail: it is what you log in with and what you recover a forgotten password with. The app says so itself: "We use your phone number for account security and recovery." If you get a new number, change it in the app. The confirmation code goes to the new number, so you no longer need your old one, as long as you are still logged in.
How to change your phone number
- Open the app and tap Profile at the bottom.
- In the settings list, tap Account.
- In the personal details list, tap Phone number.
- Pick the country code, enter your new number and tap Confirm.
- Enter the 6-digit code from the text message at Verification code and tap Confirm.
Once the code matches, the new number is in your account straight away. From then on you log in with that number; your password stays the same.
Already logged out?
Then it gets harder, because without access to your account you cannot get here, and Forgot password sends the code to the number currently in your account. In that case email [email protected] from your account's email address, with your name, your old and your new number and a licence plate that is in your account. We verify your identity and change the number for you. See also Cannot log in.
The text message does not arrive
The code is six digits, valid for fifteen minutes and works only once. The message reads: "Your SimplePark code is … Never share this code."
- Check that you entered the number with the right country code and that your device has reception.
- If you request a new code too quickly, the app says Code already sent: "A code has already been sent; use the previous code."
- If the code does not match, you see Invalid code. Enter the six digits from the latest text message.
- Too many attempts in a row bring up Too many requests. Wait a few minutes.
You can use a foreign mobile number; pick the matching country code in the field. The text message then arrives as long as your provider lets messages from the Netherlands through.
What we do and do not use your number for
We use your number to let you log in, to recover your account and to confirm changes. Nothing else: we do not call you and we send no promotional text messages. There are also no text messages about your parking action: notifications about that go by push message and email. The verification codes are free.
