Every parking session has an end time. If you stay longer than planned, you move that end time in the app, wherever you are. Extending does not create a new session: you shift the end time of the running one, so you pay the service fee only once.
How to extend
- Open the app or tap the notification that your session is about to end.
- Open your running session: on the map through Details, or through the Activities tab.
- Tap Extend.
- Pick the new end time in Until what time do you want to park?. The price is recalculated automatically.
- Tap Next. The new time appears straight away under End time.
You can extend until the moment the session expires. After that the session has stopped and you start a new one. The same screen also lets you pull the end time forward; you then pay only up to that earlier moment.
The heads-up
By default you get a push notification fifteen minutes before the end time saying that your parking activity is ending soon, with the time included: "Your parking activity will end in 15 minutes at 18:03." You set that moment yourself under Profile › Notifications, at Parking ends soon: a slider from five to sixty minutes, with a toggle for Push notification and one for Email (the second is off by default). While your session runs, the app also reminds you of it; that interval sits under Active parking action. See Reminder before your parking time ends.
Extending from your lock screen
On an iPhone your running session appears as a Live Activity on the lock screen and in the Dynamic Island, with an Extend button on it. That button opens the app straight on Until what time do you want to park?, so you do not have to find the app yourself.
Cost of extending
Extending carries no extra service fee: it remains one session, and the € 0.29 is charged once. You only pay the parking rate for the extra time. If the first session had already expired and you start a new one, you do pay the service fee again.
When the end time is fixed
In zones with a strict maximum duration you cannot extend. The app then shows End time is fixed: "The municipality has a strict max parking duration here, so the end time can't be adjusted." If you want to stay longer, move the car to a zone without a maximum. Starting a new session in the same zone to get around the maximum is not allowed in most municipalities. See Maximum parking duration.
Not enough credit to extend
The app converts the new end time into a cost and checks your balance. If it does not cover it, the app inserts a Top up step: you add credit on the spot and come back to your parking session afterwards. With direct debit your balance may go negative and you do not need to top up.
