There are two kinds of prices in the app, and they change in different ways. The parking rate belongs to the municipality and changes when the municipality decides. Our own fees, the service fee and the transaction fee, we only change with advance notice.
Municipal parking rates
Municipalities set their parking rates annually, usually effective 1 January. Changes in between happen, for example with a new parking policy or an extension of paid parking. SimplePark adopts new rates at the moment the municipality applies them. We do not set them and do not announce them; you always see the current rate before you start.
Service fee and transaction fee
Our service fee is € 0.29 per session and our transaction fee € 0.29 per payment. We keep them as low as possible and lower them where we can. If we raise them:
- You hear about it at least 30 days in advance, by email and in the app.
- The new price applies only to sessions and payments after the effective date, never retroactively.
- If you disagree with the change, you can close your account before the effective date.
A session that spans a change
If your session is running when a rate changes, around midnight on 1 January for instance, we bill each part at the rate in force at that moment. The service fee is only set when you stop, so the amount in force at that moment applies.
Where to find the current prices
- Parking rate: in the app at the zone, before you start.
- Service fee and transaction fee: on the rates page.
Why the transaction fee was introduced
Processing a payment costs money and the parking fee goes entirely to the municipality. To be able to lower the service fee, the cost of a payment was split out as a transaction fee. For anyone who parks several times on one top-up, the total price has come down as a result. See Transaction fee per payment.
Questions about an amount on your invoice
If an amount does not match what you expected, first look at What makes up the cost of a parking session. If you cannot work it out, email [email protected] with the invoice number and the session.
