A parking session does not always go as planned. You stop it immediately because you had the wrong plate, your phone loses its connection, or the app closes unexpectedly. What that costs depends on what exactly happened. Below are the three situations we see most.
Stopped right after starting
If you stop a session shortly after starting, because you picked the wrong zone or plate for instance, there has still been a registration with the municipality. You then pay the parking fee for the elapsed time and the € 0.29 service fee. For that elapsed time the municipality counts at least one of the zone's time units. If the zone bills per minute, at € 3.00 per hour that is € 0.34 together; if it bills per quarter of an hour, you pay a full quarter plus the service fee. You see it back on the Activity under Total cost, where the total is followed by "incl. € 0.29 service fee".
Connection lost or app closed
A parking session runs on our servers, not on your phone. If you lose your connection, close the app or your phone switches off, the session simply keeps running until you stop it. So you pay for the full time. Open the app as soon as you have a connection again and stop the session when you are done.
If stopping fails because of a poor connection, try again as soon as you have reception and check under Activities that the session has an end time. See Stopping a parking session.
The session never started
If you get an error message on starting, no registration was made and you pay nothing. Check in the app that no session is really running before trying again. If your car is unpaid in the meantime, use the machine. See Why can I not start a session here?.
Stopped automatically
A session can also end by itself: at the end time you set, or at the zone's maximum duration. That is not an aborted session. You get a push notification and an email about it: they say that your parking activity was stopped automatically because the preset end time or the maximum parking time was reached. You pay the time up to that moment plus the service fee. See Setting an end time in advance.
When we can help
If you suspect a session went wrong through a technical fault on our side, for example because you did tap stop and the app confirmed it, email [email protected] with your plate, the zone and the time. We check the logs to see what happened. Parking fees passed on to the municipality because your plate was registered we cannot recover; our own service fee we correct if the fault was ours.
