Your phone number is the key to your account: you sign in with it and we use it to recover your account. That is why we check once that the number really is yours, with a 6-digit code by text message. You come across this when you sign up, when you complete your account, and later if you change your number.
Verifying your number
- Enter your phone number and tap Next.
- Within a minute you receive a text: "Your SimplePark code is 123456. Never share this code."
- Enter the six digits under Verification code.
- Tap Next. The Verify phone number screen closes and you carry on.
The code is always six digits, valid for fifteen minutes, and works once. This text message is free.
Entered the wrong number
On the code screen, tap Enter another number. You go back to the input field and receive a new code on the right number.
The text message does not arrive
Work through these points in order:
- Signal. Without mobile coverage a text will not come in. Wi-Fi does not help: a text travels over the mobile network.
- The number. Check that you picked the right country code and left out the leading zero after it.
- Give it a moment. The message is usually there within a minute, but a provider sometimes holds messages briefly.
- Filtering. Some phones move messages from unknown senders to a separate folder.
The code is not accepted
An incorrect code brings up Invalid code. Check that you are using the digits from the most recent message: if you requested a code twice, only the last one works. If the code is older than fifteen minutes, request a new one.
A foreign number
You can use a foreign mobile number. Tap the flag on the left of the field: a list of countries opens that you search with Search by location or country code. If you type the number including its country code, the field jumps to the right country by itself. Your provider does have to let text messages from the Netherlands through; with some foreign plans they do not.
What we use your number for
Account security and recovery, and nothing else. We do not call you and we do not send marketing by text. Beyond the verification code, we only use your number if we have to reach you about a running parking action or a payment.
To put a different number on your account later, you go through the same verification; see Changing your phone number. Verifying your email address works the same way, but by email: see Confirming your email address.
